Stupefied X

Penalises mental checks, and can make your own spells fail.

Stupefied has a numeric value — written as Stupefied 1, Stupefied 2 and so on. The value is the size of the effect.

What it does

  • Status penalty equal to the value on Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma checks and DCs, including spell attacks and spell DCs.
  • To cast a spell, first succeed at a flat check of DC 5 + the stupefied value, or the spell is lost.

How it ends

When the effect that caused it ends.

At the table

The flat check is the part people forget. A stupefied caster does not just cast worse — they can lose the spell and the actions entirely.
