Frightened
Disadvantage while you can see the source, and you cannot approach it.
What it does
- Disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls while the source is within line of sight.
- You cannot willingly move closer to the source.
How it ends
When the effect ends, or on a successful save if the effect allows one.
At the table
Breaking line of sight removes the disadvantage but not the movement restriction. Those two clauses come apart and people routinely apply both or neither.
