Our Origin

The Story of
Nat20Labs

"In a world where digital dice are often shrouded in mystery, we sought to build a tavern where every roll is a matter of public record. A place where fate is not just decided, but witnessed."

The Mission

Restoring Trust to
the Tabletop

Nat20Labs was born from a simple question: How do we know the DM isn't fudging? Or more importantly, how does the DM prove they aren't?

We leverage threshold cryptography and the drand distributed beacon to provide a source of randomness that is mathematically impossible for any single entity to predict or manipulate.

The Pillars of our Forge

Cryptographic Truth

Every roll on our platform is tied to a specific round of the drand beacon, providing a public proof that anyone can verify independently.

Lore First

We believe the math should serve the story. Our tools are designed to feel like part of your world, not a distraction from it.

Community Built

Nat20Labs is an open project. We share our research, our homebrew experiments, and our code with the TTRPG community.

The Path Forward

Nat20Labs started as a weekend experiment and grew into something larger: a toolkit for the tabletop community that refuses to compromise on mathematical rigour. We believe the best stories emerge when every participant trusts the table — and trust requires transparency.

Our roadmap includes verifiable session logs, sharable roll receipts, and deeper integration with popular virtual tabletops. All of our research and tooling is documented in the Lab Journal, where we explore the mathematics of game balance, the history of randomness, and the design decisions behind our tools.

If you're a developer, a dungeon master, a probability nerd, or just someone who has ever accused the dice gods of cheating — you belong here. The tavern doors are open. Pull up a chair, read the scrolls, and roll something verifiable.

Join the Expedition

"The tavern doors are always open to those who seek the truth behind the clatter of the dice. Whether you are a math-wizard or a lore-bard, there is a seat at the table for you."
